    107 mm Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher Weapon System (ÇNRA) is a weapon system which can be used, day and night and in all weather conditions, as a fire support for maneuvering units. Towed T – 107 is an excellent close range, intensive fire weapon due to its property to be transported, complete or disassembled, on land surface as well as by helicopter, on board or under belly, together with its munitions or to be dropped with parachute together with 48 rounds of rocket.

    Product Description

    107 mm extended range rocket, the design and production with original aerodynamic properties and composite solid fueled motor with reduced smoke have been realized by Roketsan, has a 50 % longer range as compared to classical 107 mm rockets. TR – 107 rocket has, thanks to its aerodynamic shape and composite solid fueled motor, a longer and different range of 11 km, while the classical rockets have a range of 8 km. The accuracy of the rocket is maintained with the spin created by the perforations in the nozzle.
    TR – 107 rocket which is filled with high explosive warhead, with its superior dispersive character, can be successfully used for small targets as well as area targets within the 11 km range and, create an effective fire power.
    While it can be used with classical 12 steal tube pods, it may also be used with insulated composite pods which can be dispose produced by Roketsan. When used with such disposable composite pods, the rocket, ready for firing as a complete round in those pods, is fully protected against unfavorable weather and ambient conditions in all stages, that including storage and handling in the field.
    TR – 107 rocket, with its HE warhead, is effective as anti – personnel, anti – material and against light armored targets. TR-107 can be used in the following launching systems;

    (2) T-122 MLRS, 122 mm Multi Launch Rocket System



    T-122 MLRS is the one of the most improved MLRS’ with modern sub-systems to provide lethal mass fires in support of the maneuver forces.
    T-122 MLRS is able to fulfill its mission autonomously. T-122 MLRS has the NATO Stock Number and it is in Turkish Armed Forces inventory
    As part of the modernization drive undertaken by the Turkish Military in the 1980s and 90's several new rocket systems were developed for the needs of the Turkish army. Prototypes of the system were revealed in 1995 with the first vehicles undertaking trials and evaluation in 1996. Production commenced in 1997.The system consists of two pods of 122-mm launch tubes which are hydraulically traversed and elevated. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art fire control system which calculates firing data automatically for rockets with different warheads and is capable of storing up to 20 target coordinates. The vehicle can fire rockets singly or in salvo, with a full forty rocket launch taking less than 80 seconds and blanketing a target area of 500 m × 500 m. In addition the later versions of the T-122 features an integral hydraulic crane which allows reloading of rockets pods within five minutes.
    The rockets for the system were developed and manufactured by MKEK and Roketsan, though the T-122 can fire 122mm rockets from the BM-21 and associated systems. Indigenous rockets are available with HE-FRAG or cluster warheads which can contain either anti-personnel or anti-tank submunitions. Maximum range of fire with extended-range rockets is up to 40 km.
    Variants


    First production models of the T-122 Sakarya launcher vehicle were based on the German MAN 26.281 heavy utility truck. An improved variant of the system was revealed in 2005 which is based on the MAN 26.372 truck which is also used as the launcher vehicle for the J-600T Yıldırım short-range ballistic missile. The improved system is fitted to use factory-sealed disposable rocket pods that are specifically designed to be maintenance free, resistant to handling and environmental conditions and allow rapid reloading. The updated system can also be fitted with armour and an NBC system.

    122 mm rockets produced by Roketsan are named TR – 122 and TRB – 122 depending on their respective warheads. These rockets which have uniform dispersion can be used by artillery units against area targets, using T – 122 and T122 / 300.     Thanks to the aerodynamic body and composite solid fuel motor designed and produced by Roketsan, the range of the rocket has been extended 100 % as compared to that of many other classic 122 mm rockets (it is 36 km at sea level, 40 km at 600 m above sea level).
    The stabilization of free flying TR / TRB – 122 Rocket, launched from launcher tube and completes a stabilized flight, is increased with rotation of fins.     Shoot and Scout
    The T-107/122 launcher has shoot-and-scoot capability with
    its high-tech navigation and automatic laying systems. It has
    an INS/GPS navigation system and automatic laying system
    integrated to the weapon management system. It is able
    to fire in maximum 5 minutes after stopping on the firing
    position and accomplishment of the fire mission, it can leave
    the position in maximum 5 minutes for the next positions.
    Therefore the T-107/122 can carry out many fire missions in a
    very short period on the battlefield and can be ready for the
    next missions


    Direct Fire
    The T-107/122 Launcher has a direct fire system to launch
    107 mm rockets. ROKETSAN TR-107 rockets have perfect
    accuracy and dispersion characteristics because of their
    design. In addition to the distinctive airframe/aerodynamic
    design, due to lack of spin stabilizer fins, it is affected by
    wind at minimum level especially during the boost phase.
    Its hydraulic stabilization system augments the minimum
    dispersion ability as well. For that reasons, rockets can hit
    the target accurately and create mass fire on the target with
    minimum dispersion so that TR-107 rockets can be fired
    not only on area targets but also on small targets. The Firing
    Section (Launcher) Commander can aim to the target and
    fire the 107 mm rockets by using the direct fire control unit
    and WMS Display in the cabin. The T-107/122 enhances its
    effectiveness in close battle including battles in urban areas
    with its unique direct fire capability

    Negative Elevation
    The T-107/122 is able to fire the 107 mm rockets in negative
    elevation. Using that ability, the T-107/122 can aim and hit the
    targets below the launcher’s altitude during the operations
    especially in mountainous areas.

    High Mobility
    The T-107/122 launcher platform is a highly mobile 4 x 4
    tactical vehicle which provides superior on-road and off-road
    travel capacity. Its compact and strong structure provides a
    very reliable platform. Having a very powerful engine, it has
    very high travel speed in both on-road and off-road conditions.

    The T-122/300 is also a deterrent force due to its long

    vital tasks in a very wide array of missions from peace
    operations to the attack with fire besides the standard

    Shoot and Scout
    The T-122/300 launcher has shoot-and-scoot capability
    with its high-tech navigation and automatic laying
    systems. It has an INS/GPS navigation system and
    automatic laying system integrated to the weapon
    management system. It is able to fire in maximum
    5 minutes after stopping on the firing position and
    accomplishment of the fire mission, it can leave the
    position in maximum 5 minutes for the next positions.
    Therefore the T-122/300 can carry out many fire
    missions in a very short period on the battlefield and
    can be ready for the next missions.

    Survivability
    The T-122/300 has the minimized vulnerability on the
    battlefield because of the quick emplacement and
    displacement due to the shoot and scout capability,
    high mobility and the secure digital communication
    capability



    Minimum Crew
    The T-122/300 has a crew of two, consisting of
    a commander and a driver only due to the fully
    automatic weapon control, navigation and laying
    systems. However, the number of the crew can be
    increased regarding to the user’s needs

    Flexibility
    The flexibility of the T-122/300 MBRL makes it a very
    important fire support asset. The multi caliber lunch,
    variety of munitions, the organizational structure and
    transportability are mainly capabilities in addition to
    the other capabilities mentioned above to provide
    and enhance the flexibility of the T-122/300. The
    multi caliber launch and variety of munitions give
    fire support planners flexibility for the fire planning
    to support the maneuver forces. The T-122/300
    organizational structure allows assignment of tactical
    missions down to platoon or section level if required.
    In addition to the 122 mm and 300 mm rockets,
    The T-122/300 is able to fire new design rockets and
    missiles of the future due to its flexible and modular
    structure. The T-122/300 launcher platform is a 6 x
    6 or 8 x 8 tactical wheeled vehicle that brand and
    models are chosen according to customer’s logistic
    structure and demand. It is equipped with necessary
    mechanical, electrical and electronic sub-systems to
    perform various steps required (mission planning,
    deployment, ballistic calculation, laying etc.) in order to
    conduct a firing mission. The T-122/300 system can be
    re-designed in different versions, which has different
    sub-systems including platform (vehicle), radios, power
    sources, navigation system etc. in various brands and
    models according to the user’s logistics structure and
    needs.

    The T-122/300 can be transported by all transportation
    means, land; air; sea and rail. It is transportable
    by almost all types of cargo planes. Therefore the
    T-122/300 is able to support the overseas operations

    Cirit is a laser-guided 70 mm rocket system under production by Turkish missile manufacturer Roketsan. It is one of the projects launched by Turkey to equip the Turkish Army's T-129 Atak, AH-1P Cobra and AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopters with low-cost precision strike capabilities. It has been selected by Eurocopter for execution of a test and integration program to equip the Eurocopter EC635. The weapon's name comes from a traditional Turkish horseback game, Cirit, where two teams of riders fight a mock battle using wooden javelins.

    In 2006, Turkey is believed to have started developing a land attack cruise missile called the Stand-Off Missile (SOM). The SOM looks nearly identical to the German (among others) made Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missile. Designed by Tübitak SAGE, the SOM will likely have an initial service date of 2015. 1 Reports indicate that production began in late 2012, or early 2013.

    Cosmetically, the SOM follows the same angular structure seen in various European land attack cruise missiles. The primary difference appears to be the location of the air inlet. On the KEPD 350, the air inlets are located on the side of the body in between the rear fins and the wings, whereas the SOM air inlet is located underneath the body. The missile weighs about 600 kg, and carries 200 kg payload to a range of 150 to 200 km. The missile is guided by GPS/INS with a terminal Imaging Infrared Seeker (IIR). It also possess a two-way datalink which assists with target selection.
    The SOM is an air-launched system originally fitted to the F-4 Phantom. Work to fit the missile to Turkey’s F-16s will begin in the summer 2013. The weapon may eventually be carried by the F-35, although no target date has been set. 4
    A report from 2011 suggested that a campaign of 30 flight tests would be conducted to thoroughly validate all its components. It is unclear if this occurred, but the SOM is believed to entered into production.

    Variants

    TUBITAK-SAGE developed the missile in three variants with varying warheads and guidance/communication packages:

    • SOM A: Basic Air Force variant that is designed to engage a military target in simple strike mode by using the coordinates of the given target at the terminal stage.

    Turkey reveals stand-off missile, bunker buster

    TUBITAK-SAGE Stand-off Missile (SOM) on display aboard a TurAF F-16 Fighting Falcon at the Cigli Airbase in Izmir, Turkey.

    Turkish Air Force (TurAF) has revealed two indigenously developed missile systems during the 100th year celebrations at the Cigli airbase in Turkey’s western province of Izmir, TR Defence sources reported on Saturday. Celebrations consisted of public shows by the world’s leading air acrobatics teams, including the USAF Thunderbirds and Turkey’s own Turkish Stars, as well as various other events both on the ground and in the air.
    Developed by TUBITAK-SAGE as a result of an ambitious project started in 2006, Turkey’s first indigenous stand-off missile is designed for destroying both fixed and large moving targets at a range of over 180 kilometers. Currently referred to by the TurAF as SOM, it can be used as a precision strike weapon against both land or sea targets. TUBITAK-SAGE officials who spoke to TR Defence at the Cigli airshow said that the initial demonstartion flights of the prototypes were completed successfully at undisclosed locations and the delivery of a first batch of missiles to TurAF would take place by the end of 2011 following more vigorous live firing tests scheduled for the rest of the year.
    SOM missile uses GPS (Global Positioning System) as its primary mode of guidance complemented by an advanced intertial navigation system and a radar-based terrain contour matching system, dubbed TERCOM, allowing the missile to ‘hug’ the terrain during its flight as to avoid detection by radar. SOM also features improved geometry and aerodynamics over similar missile systems, as well as lightweight composite components that minimize the radar cross-section of the missile and turning it stealth. A terminal stage infrared imager recognizes the individual target by matching its signature with a pre-loaded database of similar targets and allows for precision homing and strike.
    SOM can currently be installed and used aboard TurAF F-4 Phantom and F-16 aircraft.
    “Certification work is in progress to enable the missile for use aboard the F-35,” a TUBITAK-SAGE official told TR Defence on condition of anonymity. Turkey plans to procure an initial batch of 120 F-35 planes to replace its aging fleet of F-4 Phantoms and the older F-16 Block 30s.
    Bunker Penetrating Munition
    TUBITAK-SAGE also unveiled its latest high-precision ‘bunker buster’ bomb at the airshow in Izmir, dubbed NEB (Nufuz Edici Bomba) or Penetrating Bomb.
    NEB is a 870 kg bomb system that consists of two warheads placed in a tandem configuration. First warhead is a tip-mounted shaped charge that creates a critical shockwave and intense heat upon impact. This allows the second warhead to penetrate through a reinforced concrete structure and explode on the inside. Second warhead is a larger explosive package housed in a thicker, slimmer steel-alloy casing that is designed to go through the walls of the bunker as it’s weaked by the shock and heat of the first first warhead’s impact. Wired with a proximity fuze to detonate approximately one second after the first warhead, the second warhead delivers a large and extremely lethal explosion to destroy the enemy bunker from inside out.
    NEB is laser guided and can be dropped from all TurAF combat aircraft with target designators.

    The J-600T Yıldırım (English: Thunderbolt) is a conventional battlefield ballistic missile system providing high mobility, designed to attack high value targets such as enemy air defence installations, C3I centers, logistics and infrastructure facilities as well as providing fire support to friendly artillery by expanding the area of effect.
    History

    Turkey's cooperation with China and Pakistan for the joint development of ballistic missiles began in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The story of Project J, as well as Project Kasırga which preceded it, goes back to the first half of the 1990s, when negotiations for the technology transfer and production under license in Turkey of the American M-270 MLRS artillery rocket system failed. Turkey decided to seek for other alternatives, mainly focusing on full sovereignty over critical technologies in order to establish a self-sufficient national infrastructure for the design and development of guided missiles. After signing a contract for the licensed production of the Chinese WS-1A and WS-1B rockets under the name of Kasırga in 1997, a similar contract was signed with CPMIEC (Chinese Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation) for the Chinese B-611 SRBMsystem in 1998, covering the licensed production of a battery of B-611 with more than 200 missiles, at a reported cost of USD 300,000,000.
    The J-600T design is based on the B-611 SRBM developed by CASIC (China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation) as a low cost tactical missile system, with a range of up to 250 km in improved versions such as the B-611M, and as a replacement for the M-11 (CSS-7 and DF-11) missiles in Chinese inventory. CPMIEC officials have confirmed at the IDEF 2007 military fair in Ankara that B-611M, the improved version of B-611, was not a part of the Sino-Turkish cooperation program.
    Turkey's Roketsan has been assigned with the task of improving the range, performance and design of the J-600T, and is conducting studies on alternatives such as a sealed pod launcher box design, improved propellant, improved GCU and different types of warhead configurations.
    Roketsan is reportedly working on an improved version of J-600T, details of which are highly speculative for the moment. Given that the system was first revealed to the public more than 7 years of its introduction to service, it can be expected that information about the improved version, if there is any, is going to remain secret for some time.
    Characteristics

    The Yıldırım system is composed of two units: The J-600T SRBM and the F-600T launcher vehicle, which is based on the MAN 26.372 6x6 truck, manufactured in Turkey. The same vehicle is also used for the Turkish-built T-122 Sakarya and T-300 Kasırga MBRL (Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher, or MLRS) systems, providing advantage in logistics. Each F-600T carries one J-600T on an open rail-type launcher and can be prepared for launch in less than 25 minutes, with the vehicle ready to move again in less than 5 minutes. The missile is loaded on to the F-600T vehicle by a crane from a reloading vehicle, again a MAN 26.372 6x6 truck.
    The missile's flight is controlled by an INS (Inertial Navigation System) which feeds trajectory correction command inputs to the four moving wings at the nozzle section. The trajectory data is loaded onto the missile's Guidance & Control Unit (GCU) (FCS) on board the F-600T vehicle before the launch. The FCS in F-600T is also supported by BAIKS (Batarya Atış İdare Kompüter Sistemi, eng: Battery Fire Control Computer System) and TOMES (Topçu Meteoroloji Sistemi, eng: Artillery Meteorology System). It is reported that the missile can also be upgraded with a GPS/INS GCU.
    Each J-600T Yıldırım battery consists of:

    • 1 x Battery Command & Control Vehicle
    • 2 x Firing Team Command and Control Vehicles
    • 6 x F-600T Launcher Vehicles
    • 7 x F-600T Reload - Resupply Vehicles
    • 1 x Maintenance Vehicle

    Operation

    The J-600T has been operational with the Turkish Army since 2001, but it was first revealed to the public six years later, during the Victory Day (Zafer Bayramı) parade in Ankara, on August 30, 2007. The TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation) commentator announced the system as the "Yıldırım missile system." During this parade and the following two parades in the same year, both the launchers and the reloading vehicles were displayed to the public. The Yıldırım system was also reported to the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms by Turkey in March 2007.

    Project J is a short-range, road-mobile, solid propellant missile system. It is a joint venture between the Turkish firm Roketsan and CPMIEC of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The system is believed to be based upon the PRC WS-1 unguided rocket system. 1 It is presumed that like the WS-1, the Project J is road-mobile and deployed in a battery.

    The Project J missile is a tactical weapon. Its warhead is insufficient against strategic or hardened targets, even with its accuracy. Project J is based upon the WS-1 missile which was designed to be deployed in volume from rocket batteries. This will probably be the case for the Project J, and it will likely be used as a support weapon against military targets. The addition of a relatively advanced guidance system will increase the effectiveness of the weapon, but is unlikely to be sufficient for use against individual or moving military targets. However, it will likely be able to bombard a military column, airfield or base with a high degree of effectiveness.
    The Project J is reported to have a 150 km range, with a length of 6.0 m, a diameter of 0.4 m and a launch weight of 1,200 kg. Conflicting reports place warhead weight at either 150kg or 450kg. It has a combination of inertial guidance and a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system equipped on its control fins. This likely gives the missile an accuracy of 75 m CEP. There is probably a decrease in the payload to get such a significant increase in range.
    The Project J missile was first reported in Turkey in 2002. Turkey purchased five WS-1 rocket batteries in 1997, which it likely reverse engineered with the collaboration of CPMIEC to develop the Project J missile. The first flight test of the Project J occurred in December 2001. Turkey may have used the missile during operations in December 2007.

    Turkey is believed to be developing an upgraded version of the Project J system designated Yildirim 2. Reportedly, it has a range of 300 km. 2
