Is Pakistan better off under martial law

After looking at the last 5 years under the PPP and potentially more of the same when elections take place later on in the year --- i am sincerely concerned about the welfare of our state.
Are we a nation better off under the guidance of the 1 institution that has remained a rock in our turbulent past? Should we entrust the health of our nation in the hands of the army? Judging on our track record we have certainly faired better and prospered when for example Musharraf was at the helm.
    Whats your opinion?

    Yours Sincerely

    A concerned patriot.

democracy the way its defined in the west is not good for us imo. I mean look at America they are supposed to have democracy but its been subverted by AIPAC and Israel rules them by default

Well do we or have we really had democracy in the last 5 years? The two main parties do not have democracy nor do the really believe in democracy. They are fiefdoms which exist to perpetuate the rule Bhutto or Sharif family. We need education an need to increase education & literacy first. Perhaps we should look at a Chinese version of governance after all they have been more successful at bettering the lot of their people.

Also it can't be ignored that 70% of our "elected" officials avoid paying tax. The NA seems full of gangster types.

Agreed. I sincerely hope that the Supreme Court declares the currently formed Election Commission against the spirit of the constitution as four out of five members were appointed before the amendment.

A new and independent election commission may help bring in free and fair elections in the country.

That's the irony - manipulatively forged the ballot to come to power, not chosen by the people.

but when we havent had the army back seat driving - look at what governance had. The last 5 years have probably been the most unsuccessful, the most corrupt and backward period of our history. Our people suffer from lack of basic necessities of existence. Anything would be an improvement. In a way i understand why there is a back seat driver. If they were not their then where would we end up?
I sometimes am of the opinion our people need the danda democracy. Problem is if i had a say i perhaps would be too radical and bring to account the morons that have looted our nations coffers. Even the bloodiest coup in our history wouldn't be out of the question.
My desire would be for Imran Khan to have some say in our future as he is the only person i respect with what he propagates

People in Pakistan have shown frequently gullibility and the ability to be conned by great sales people who go on to become leaders that loot. I am suggesting IK should be given a chance and sincerely hope the masses agree, however our nation deserves the opportunity to have fair elections. If the army feels this may not be the case then i would expect them to step in and support democracy or even take over on a temporary basis

The people of this country are pleading for a change for the better and not a continuation of dynastic rules which almost always end up corrupting the system for their own ends.

And for me, if the Army supports from behind the seat of from the front seat, if this country can be taken forward towards betterment, I don't really care.

It is not the methodology to reach the objective which is more important - in my opinion reaching the object now has become more important than anything else.
